Organization
Our organization was established in 1961 as a California Water District under the provisions of the state of California Water Code. As a special district, IRWD is able to focus on its four primary tasks - providing high-quality potable water, sewage collection and treatment, production and delivery of tertiary-treated reclaimed water, and urban runoff treatment - with maximum efficiency and local responsiveness to our customers.
As an independent, not-for-profit public agency, IRWD is governed by a five-member publicly elected Board of Directors. Board members are elected at-large for four-year terms. The Board is responsible for the District's policies and decision-making. Day-to-day operations are supervised by the General Manager.
