Would you like a chance to win a $100 Home Depot gift card? Well, during Fix a Leak Week, March 14–20, 2022, we’re giving away a $100 card every day. All you’ve got to do is inspect your toilet for leaks, send us a photo of your search and fill out a quick entry form.

 

HOW TO TEST YOUR TOILET FOR A LEAK. AND FIX IT.

A toilet leak can waste a lot of water and that costs you a lot of money. But don’t despair. Finding and fixing toilet leaks is pretty simple. Let’s break it down.

STEP 1:

GET SOME DYE.

Stop by the IRWD Main Office at 15600 Sand Canyon Ave. and pick up some tablets (there will be signs as you walk toward the main entrance).

Or food coloring can do the trick as well.

STEP 2:

DROP THE DYE INTO YOUR TOILET TANK.

Remove the tank lid from your toilet, drop in the dye tablet or a few drops of food coloring, then wait 10 minutes. If any color shows up in the bowl, you’ve got a leak.

Note — Make sure to flush your toilet once your test is complete to avoid staining the bowl.

STEP 3:

REPLACE THE FLAPPER OR INFLOW VALVE.

To fix the leak, visit your local hardware store and get a toilet repair kit. The nice person in the store can show you how simple it is. More than likely your leak was caused by a worn flapper or inflow valve, both of which are easy DIY projects.

• • The sweepstakes begins March 1, 2022, at 12:01 a.m. PST and ends on March 20, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. PDT.
• • IRWD will give away seven $100 Home Depot gift cards.
• • One winner will be selected each day of Fix a Leak Week (March 14-20, 2022).
• • Entries that do not win on one day will remain eligible on the remaining days of the sweepstakes.
• • One entry per entry method permitted for up to three entries per household. (There is a limit of one gift card per household.)
• • Must be an IRWD customer. IRWD employees are not eligible for a prize.
• • All photos become property of IRWD.

You can earn another sweepstakes entry by following the easy leak check on your free WaterInsight Portal: 

1: Click here to log in to your WaterInsight Portal.

2: On the Home tab, navigate to the left of the page and select Check if I have a Leak.

3: Select Start checking for leaks to begin the training module. 

4: After reading the information and watching the videos, let us know what you found leaking! Then select submit to be entered in the sweepstakes.

5: If you didn’t find a leak, let us know using the Contact tab at the end of the Check if I have a leak training to enter in the sweepstakes and so we can assist you with any ongoing issues you may be having around your home.
