It’s Emergency Preparedness Month – Sign up for CodeRED

Don’t wait for an emergency to happen before you sign up for CodeRED, a high-volume, high-speed system for mass emergency notifications. Since 2010, IRWD has kept customers informed in times of water-related emergencies with CodeRED.

Over the years, IRWD has used CodeRED to communicate with customers during fires and during winter storms and mudslides, when pipelines and roads were washed away. Customers were kept informed about when repairs would be completed and what steps to take when the water supply was restored.

CodeRED has also been used to notify customers about emergency repairs.

Customers have the option of receiving voice, email or text messages within an hour of a water-related emergency. For example, if there is a water main break that affects certain neighborhoods, residents of those neighborhoods will be informed of the problem, an estimated time for the repairs and any other pertinent information. Users of CodeRED may hear the last message delivered to their phones through CodeRED by dialing back the number on their caller IDs.

CodeRED works in coordination with AlertOC and the County of Orange Emergency Notification System. Thousands of notifications can be transmitted in a matter of minutes.

Signing up for CodeRED is as easy as going to www.irwd.com/emergency-codered and using the Community Notification Enrollment Form. Customers will be asked to provide a contact name, address to be monitored, phone number and email address, and alert preference.

Your contact information is confidential and will only be used for emergency notifications.
